10 things about Karim(e)

As the middle child of three brothers, I was born and raised in a small town in western Germany in 1991. My mother gave us foreign names, and I was given the Moroccan name Karime. It means “generous”, “noble” and “honorable”. My mother didn’t know any better, but the name is commonly written without the ‘E’.

I am the guy on the right next to my older brother. My facial expressions admittedly didn’t change much.

Music is life

Since a young age I am obsessed with music. I used to play the drums for eight years and even had my own metal band (ask me for a photo of my long curly hair). Today I am enjoying to mix electronic beats and create tons of Spotify playlists.

I love to get lost

Nothing makes me happier than getting lost in nature and turning off my phone. I am a big fan of road trips, camping, fishing and most importantly campfires. I used to work as a woodsman in Canada, and I challenge you to build a greater campfire!

Lost in space

Interstellar has to be my favourite film, aside from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Hans Zimmer soundtrack is a work of art in and of itself, but the scenes in which Cooper is flying through space alone in his craft with no music playing whatsoever are even more amazing. Every time I watch it, I get chills.

Gotta pet them all

All animals, particularly dogs, have a special place in my heart. A golden retriever would be my ideal pet. I’m hoping that one day I’ll have enough time to take care of one.

My dream

Traveling the world

My dream is to one day buy a catamaran and sail across the world. There are far too many incredible locations, people, and cultures worth discovering.

Shredding it

One of the most lovely views must be fresh powder on pine trees. It’s even better if you can snowboard through it. My parents had taken me skiing in the Austrian mountains since I was a baby. I started snowboarding when I was seven years old and have been hooked ever since. I also skate, kite, and surf – I’m all about boards!

Into the blue

Water is my element. I obtained my open water diving license in Egypt and my advanced open water diving license on Bali diving through a ship wreck at night. Swimming with the fish 30 meters deep is an unforgettable experience. The whale shark in the photo was about 7 meters long and truly scary.

Elon Musk

Simply said, Elon Musk is the most inspirational person I’ve ever seen and someone I’ve always admired. He is changing the world for the better with his great skills and attitude, all while not taking himself too seriously.

Ten forty who?

After 6 years of freelancing, I decided to team up with one of my former freelance buddies and launch 10/42 Studio, a small studio focused solely on creating unique experiences, improving products and platforms, making them more accessible and easier to use.
